Howdy, everyone! My name is Josh Janda and I am the Associate Campus Minister for St. John Student Center! I am so blessed to be a part of this community. = I am originally from the small town of La Grange, Texas where I grew up with my two younger brothers. My family has always been Catholic and I was so blessed to have great Catholic role models in both sets of grandparents.
My faith ultimately came alive after an experience in high school when I prayed the most dangerous prayer: Holy Spirit, do whatever you want with me! Ever since that moment life with Christ has truly been a great adventure. After high school, I attended Tarleton State University, a Division II school, where I caught the ministry bug. It was during this time that I felt the Lord calling me to share that which He had given to me and after two years I transferred to a degree in Theology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville (FUS). FUS really gave me a great example of what a strong Catholic environment can look like and how important the Catholic community is in our spiritual life.
I graduated from FUS with my undergraduate degree in the Spring of 2020 and have served as youth and college campus minister in Texas and as a missionary in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. I moved to Michigan in the Summer of 2023 to begin a career as a Catholic educator at Lumen Christi Catholic School in Jackson. I served for one year before discerning if the Lord was calling me elsewhere. I jumped at the chance to apply for this job which I had heard so much about from friends. For reasons only known to God and the hiring committee, I was chosen to serve here and will continue to as long as the Lord permits. I finished my Master's degree in Catholic Studies from FUS in Spring of 2025 closing a ten-year journey of higher education. As of this time I have no further plans to pursue another degree, but am always wanting to learn and grow.
In my free time I enjoy playing disc golf poorly, barbecuing for my friends and family, and talking about faith and culture with my best friend on our podcast. I can't wait to meet all of y'all!
