Our Diocese is committed to creating and maintaining safe environments for children within all of our programs. To support this effort, all volunteers who have contact with a minor are required to do two things:
to attend a “Protecting God’s Children” awareness session. Many people refer to this training as “VIRTUS,” and anyone can preview the content at the virtus.org website. This training is something that volunteers only need to attend one time.
Complete the Diocese of Lansing Employee and Volunteer Criminal Background Check Disclosure and Authorization Form. These compliance forms are available in any of our offices.
Volunteers and those who are thinking of volunteering can register for a session offered at our parish or another parish in the diocese by going to virtus.org. Having all of our volunteers go through the "Protecting God's Children" training allows us as a parish and as a parish school to remain fully in compliance with Diocesan requirements. Thank you for supporting our efforts to keep all of God's children safe within our parish programs.

How to Report Abuse
If you have been abused or victimized by someone representing the Catholic Church ... Please believe in the possibility for hope and help and healing. We encourage you to come forward and speak out. Every diocese in the United States now has a Victim Assistance Coordinator who is available to obtain support for your needs, to help make a formal complaint of abuse to the diocese, and to arrange a personal meeting with the bishop or his representative if you desire.
If you have been the victim of child sexual abuse by someone representing the Catholic Church, contact appropriate law enforcement, and the Victim Assistance Coordinator for the Diocese of Lansing:
